Describe your idyllic summer day.
Cups of English morning tea, a freshwater lake plunge, some time to read & write, an afternoon nap, a lover, a long home-cooked dinner outside, a game of gin rummy.
What does style mean to you?
A strong sense of self & willingness to explore into the depths of what that means. The more well rounded, well read, well travelled, kind & compassionate the person, the more individuality tends to be reflected through style. Authenticity is the only currency that matters to me.
Who inspires your summer style?
Gregory Issacs, Brian Jones, Brigitte Bardot.
Who do you turn to for guidance?
My mum & my best friend of 25 years. Literature too, always & forever.
What is something you are excited about right now?
Heading into the studio to finish the rest of my upcoming record, my first book of poems to release this summer, spring time in New York & the romance of everyone opening their eyes again after this long dark spell.
Most listened to artist during the pandemic?
Augustus Pablo.
What’s the one item in your wardrobe you can’t live without?
A set of beautiful French lingerie. Suddenly it matters less what you’ve got on the outside when you’re walking around with a secret underneath. Also a great pair of brown ‘70s trousers.
What book is currently on your nightstand?
“Harpers Anthology” of 20th Century Native American Poetry & “Ghosts” by Dolly Aldterton, whom I adore.
